IND vs ENG second Test | Team effort got us over the line: Dravid

February 3, 2024

India on Monday recorded one of their best wins in recent memory against quality opposition who pride themselves on their fearless brand of cricket. That too after losing the first test, despite a 190-run lead in the first round.

It's no surprise that Rahul Dravid is a happy man. "We are happy to bounce back," said the Indian coach after their 106-run win over England in the second Test. "But we realize it's going to be a fantastic series and it's going to be some tough cricket over the next three matches."

He said India stayed in the game with two great individual performances despite being under pressure. "Yashasvi's brilliant innings and then Bumrah's spell kept us in the game for the first two days and put us ahead by 143 runs. Then we needed a bit more team performance to get over the line. So it was quite pleasing after the last . Test dropped.

Dravid is also happy Shubman Gill's hundred in the second innings. "He came into the Test match under outside pressure, but we have a lot of faith in Shubman," he said. "We know his class and ability. As a young player with a lot expected of him, I think he felt the pressure. So I am very happy with the way he played those innings which required pressure on him at different times.
